For the first time since my older two started school, my baby boy took a nap in his bed in the afternoon when both of my girls were in school. I had a choice of sending my middle child to preschool either in the morning or in the afternoon, and I chose afternoon specifically with the hope of my baby napping during that time so that I would have at least an hour to be all by myself and do whatever I want. It hasn’t worked out too well so far… Until today. He fell asleep in the car on the way back home after dropping off my preschooler and I managed to transfer him to his bed without disturbing his slumber and off to my studio I went.
I had thought about doing this headshot with red and blue gels ever since I found this black and white feather boa at Michaels a few weeks ago. Originally, I was supposed to have really long fake eyelashes on, but it turns out that I have no idea how to get fake eyelashes on – they just wouldn’t stick in the corners – so I had to do without. I used three lights for this shot, but I really wish that I would have added a fourth light behind aiming up toward my head. I just didn’t have time to set it up, knowing that my little boy was potentially going to wake up any minute. Thankfully, he gave me enough time to at least get a few workable shots.
