Getting Ready for the Big Jump

We went to the Fall Festival organized by my girls’ school today. It’s a fun three hours full of activities but also some free play at the playground adjacent to the festival locale, and of course a whole lot of delicious potluck food. There is always a bounce house and an animal show, and today they also had kids go around to do trick or treating from family to family. Embarrassingly, I had somehow missed the memo about the trick or treating part, and so we were the only family that did not have anything to offer to the kids there…

This photo of my middle child is taken on the playground. She was so proud of herself being able to walk all the way across the balancing beam and she was so beautifully full of concentration when she got to the end and prepared for the grand finale – the big jump off the beam. Sadly, I missed a bit on the focus and did not get her face as sharp as I wish I would have. As an afterthought, I should have stopped down the aperture for optimal results on this shot.
