I’m a few days late posting this but better late than never. I had serious difficulty coming up with a photo idea for the card this year. It took me several trips to Joann Fabrics and Michaels until I finally found this soft basket that said “… do not open until Dec 25th…” and that was the perfect size for my baby boy to be put in. From then on, I knew exactly what I wanted the card to look like and the rest of the gathering of the props was easy.
I wish it would have been as easy to photograph it. I made the mistake of stuffing some of the red-green-beige stringy paper pieces inside of the basket despite them being kind of rough and my baby boy screamed his little lungs out for the first part of the shoot until it occurred to me to take the string out of the basket and just spread it over the edge and on the floor. After that, he was pretty happy staying put in the basket, but by then my middle child, who has very little tolerance for being photographed anyway, was pretty much over the whole thing. At the end, I managed to get a reasonable photo of all there of them by merging two different frames.
