My Friend’s Daughter

Compared to most people I know, I have very few friends. During the nearly three years I’ve lived in Maryland, I’ve become close friends with exactly one person. I met her during a parent get-together when both my daughter and hers started their first year in the Montessori school where both of my daughters are now enrolled. We hit it off right away, but it took our girls nearly two years to start showing interest in playing with each other, and at the end of those two years, my friend’s daughter moved on to public kindergarten. I guess that’s what happens when you bring two shy three-year-olds together; it’ll take some time for them to warm up to each-other.

I think my friend’s daughter has the most beautiful eyes – they’re big, and brown, and those long dark eyelashes are to die for. I took this photo of her at my daughter’s birthday party at the kids’ spa. She’s fully concentrated on the Rio movie shown on a screen above her eye level while getting a pedicure. Just look at the intensity in her eyes!
