Sun, Wind, and a Flashlight

I found my old “ballroom” skirt at my parents house and was planning on a fun shoot with my oldest daughter wearing that skirt and a hat while we were in Sweden. It never happened – it’s hard to convince her to pose for a staged shoot. Instead, we were outside on a sunny and windy day and her hair was blowing everywhere and it looked so nice with the sun creating a beautiful rimlight all around her. I grabbed my dad’s flashlight to counter-balance the strong sun behind her and took a few photos of her for as long as she allowed me to do so. usually her maximum is five.

This one is my favorite of the bunch. The flashlight didn’t produce even illumination, instead, it sort of created “splashes of light” on her face, but I like it for this image. I think the icing on the cake is the tattoo on her forehead that she had applied earlier in the day. I think without it, the image would have been a bit boring.
